The UHB works in partnership with a number of both NHS and non-NHS organisations which include local hospitals, specialist health providers, GPs and other family health practitioners, local authorities, voluntary organisations, Independent Sector for Nursing Homes, Public Health Wales, Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust, Police & Crime Commissioner, Dyfed Powys Police, Mid and West Wales Fire Service, local universities, local authorities, voluntary organisations, Independent Sector and the community as a whole to address health inequalities across the geographical area.
On a regional level, the UHB works in partnership with Carmarthenshire County Council, Ceredigion County Council, Pembrokeshire County Council, Powys County Council and Powys Teaching Health Board in the Mid and West Wales Health and Social Care Collaborative. The collaborative was established to provide a strategic framework for coordinating and delivering a range of health and social care programmes across the region, maximising resources available, reducing duplication, achieving consistency and bringing about service improvement and transformational change in how we jointly commission and procure high quality services at a better price, improving outcomes for citizens in the region.
At a county level, the UHB is part of the Public Service Boards within Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.

Some of the partnerships will involve information sharing, with agreed protocols and procedures between organisations about how this information is shared. Personal Information Sharing Protocols enable any legal complexities and misunderstandings; particularly of the Data Protection Act, to be overcome. To this end, Wales has established a framework known as the Wales Acord on the Sharing of Personal Information (WASPI) to enable organisations directly concerned with the well being of an individual, to share information in a lawful and intelligent way.
