Smoking

Quitting smoking, even for a temporary time, will not only improve your general health but will help your body’s response to treatment. If you need surgery, quitting can also speeding up your recovery and reduce your time in hospital. If you contract COVID-19, by not smoking you are giving your lungs the greatest help.

We all know how hard it is to stop, but there is help available. For free advice and support, you can contact your local friendly Hywel Dda Healthy Lifestyle and Wellbeing Team (Smoking) on telephone number: 0300 303 9652

Useful tips:

  • Don’t give up giving up – Most successful quitters have tried before. You learn from past experience - don’t let fear of failure stop you from trying again.
  • Plan distractions – Cravings only last a few minutes. Plan some distractions to help you at such times.
  • Savings – Think of the money you will save.
  • Get Support– You will increase your chances of success greatly if you use expert help and medication.
