Respiratory

Current status as of 28 August 2020

We are currently running outpatient clinics virtually, mainly by telephone contact but we have started to offer video consultations to patients as well. Outpatient cancer clinics and Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) clinics have been ongoing through the pandemic mainly virtually however, face to face clinics are now restarting at a reduced rate due to social distancing regulations.

We are offering face to face and telephone clinics for tuberculosis patients, and new and existing asthma patients.

The sleep service is running telephone clinics for new and existing patients and diagnostics and treatment face to face appointments are now available but at a reduced rate with safety precautions in place.

Future plans

We are starting to resume face to face clinics for urgent general respiratory and sleep patients but with reduced capacity. There are also plans for lung function testing and the sleep clinic’s diagnostic and Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) service to return to full functionality, as soon as social distancing rules allow.
