Haematology

If your doctor is concerned that you may have a blood disorder, they may refer you to us at the Haematology Department.

Blood disorders can vary from high blood counts or low blood counts or you may have a problem with excessive bleeding or clot formation. Abnormal blood counts may reflect a bone marrow, which is not working properly so in some cases we will advise a bone marrow aspirate.

We can also treat you if you are living with lymphoma and you may be referred with a confirmed diagnosis for treatment. Patients can only be referred to us by a medical professional, your GP or consultant.

We are located in Bronglais, Glangwili, Prince Philip and Withybush hospitals.  At each hospital we provide a number of services:

Haematology outpatient clinics – these are consultant led and are supported by a team of doctors and nurses.

Chemotherapy unit – these units provide dedicated care form chemotherapy patients, haemato-oncology patients are also supported by a team of haematology specialist nurses.

Nurse led anti-coagulant clinics – these clinics have been developed in line with the haematology department.
