All children between the ages of 4-5 yrs old are offered vision assessment in schools by trained school nurses and support workers. The service is orthoptic led and follows the Welsh Assembly Government Children’s Vision Wales Pathway for 4-5 year olds. Parents are informed that the test will be taking place and given the option to opt-out if they wish. They will also receive a letter if their child struggled with vision screening or needs to see an optometrist.
