If endorsed by the Welsh Government, the programme will include refurbishment of Prince Philip Hospital by winter 2032.
The hospital will remain as a local general hospital, supporting acute medical admissions and acting as a stabilisation and transfer hub for certain specialised conditions, as it does now. It will continue to have:
- 24/7 GP-led urgent care centre/minor injuries unit
- 24/7 acute medicine, including admissions and consultant-led overnight beds and high dependency care capability
- 24/7 diagnostics (tests, scans etc)
- Critical care
- Day surgery and endoscopy
- Outpatient clinics and specialist ambulatory clinics
- Chemotherapy
- Facilities to offer midwife-led deliveries
