A Same Day Urgent Care (SDUC) service provides more than a minor injury unit.

It brings together urgent primary care, minor injuries and some same-day urgent care in one, led by experienced advanced urgent care practitioners.

Please contact the same day urgent care service on 01239 807019 before attending to speak to a triage nurse. They can provide advice, book you into the right clinic, or direct you to the most appropriate service.

Calling ahead can help reduce the time you may wait to be seen.

The same day urgent care service can usually help if you:

  • Are generally unwell and not sure where to go. Please call the service and the triage nurse can advise you and arrange an appointment if needed.
  • Have an urgent illness. Some examples are coughs, shortness of breath, chest infections, sore throats, urine infections, high temperatures, rashes, flare-ups of long-term conditions, feeling unwell.
  • Are injured. Examples include muscle / soft tissue sprains, suspected broken bones, cuts, burns, head injuries, new aches and pains, or things effecting the way you walk/move.
  • A new or infected wound and common ailments involving the skin.

Please do NOT use the same day urgent care service for:

  • Any life-threatening illness or injury that requires treatment in an emergency department. This includes chest pain that could be heart-related, signs of stroke, severe breathing difficulty, heavy bleeding or major trauma. In a life-threatening emergency, always dial 999.
  • Pregnancy-related issues. Please contact your midwife or GP. Help and advice is also available 24/7 – please visit Maternity Services - who to contact webpage here (opens in new tab) for details on who to contact during pregnancy.
  • A mental health crisis. Please use dedicated crisis services or phone NHS 111 Wales option 2 (opens in new tab) for urgent mental health support.
