The hospitals are busy because of Coronavirus, the hospital might look different to what it normally does.
You will not be able to go into some areas of the hospital. This is to make sure that the virus does not spread so easily. Do not come to the hospital if you have a cough, a fever or if you feel unwell.
If you have an outpatients appointment and you are well, go into the outpatients entrance.
Take your appointment letter to outpatients reception. If there is no one in reception, sit down in the waiting area – someone will come and find you.
The nurse will ask you if you are well, they might take your temperature. Don’t be scared that the nurse is wearing the mask, apron and gloves, it is to protect you from the coronavirus. This is the same nurse without the mask, gloves and apron.
If you are well you will be able to stay for your appointment, you will be asked to sit in the waiting room.
You must not sit on the chairs that have signs on them, this is to make sure that people do not get too close to each other. The nurse or doctor will call you when they are ready to see you.
If you have have a high temperature, a cough or shortness of breath you will be given a mask to wear. You will not be able to go to your appointment because you may be unwell. The nurse will give you advice and will ask you to go home. You will get another appointment when you are better.
