Quit smoking support

A hand offering an unlit cigarette and another hand held up to refuse it.

Most pharmacies across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire offer some level of free support to help you quit smoking.

There are two levels of support available, and the service offered can vary between pharmacies. Please contact your pharmacy to check what level of support they provide.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)

Pharmacies can provide access to free nicotine replacement products to help manage cravings, including patches, lozenges and mints.

This level of support does not include appointments or behavioural support.

One‑to‑One Behavioural Support

Some pharmacies offer more in‑depth and personalised behavioural support at up to eight fortnightly appointments. This includes:

  • Signposting to support resources to help you quit
  • Understanding smoking triggers and ways to change routines
  • Discussing cravings and improving activity levels to help with cravings
  • Carbon monoxide (CO) monitoring
  • Setting a quit date and choosing the best medication options to assist with quitting

This service aims to give you the tools, motivation and practical help you need to stop smoking.

Our Smoking and Wellbeing Team can also help you preparing to quit, quitting or advice on staying smokefree. Find more information about the Smoking and Wellbeing team and their services here (opens in new tab).

Most people feel more confident and successful in quitting when they take help from stop‑smoking services rather than trying alone.
