We provide a confidential service to all our patients including those under 16 years of age. Your personal information is safe and cannot be accessed by anyone outside of the sexual health service.
When we send tests to the lab, we use a clinic number and your date of birth, not your name. This means no one outside our service like your GP, hospital clinics, or school nurses, will know you had tests or what the results were.
We do not share information about your visit with anyone else unless you want us to. We sometimes suggest informing your GP of ongoing treatment or conditions. We will only contact GPs or other hospital departments about your ongoing care if we have your consent.
The only reason we may pass on confidential information without your permission would be to protect you or someone else from serious harm. We would always try to discuss this with you first.
If you are worried about privacy or have questions, please talk to a member of our staff. We are here to help.
We take confidentiality very seriously, and all our staff are trained to handle sensitive situations with care.
