Whether an examination is needed will depend on the reason for your visit. If you are attending for contraception, such as a coil or diaphragm fitting, we may recommend an examination. We may also recommend an examination if you have STI symptoms or are worried about a physical problem.
An examination can help us identify any issues and, in some cases, allow treatment to be provided straight away.
Examinations are usually quick and straightforward. Please do not feel worried or embarrassed. Our staff carry out these examinations regularly and will do everything possible to help you feel comfortable.
You always have the right to decline an examination. For some tests, you may also be able to take your own swabs in the privacy of the toilet facilities.
