School wellbeing programmes

Ensuring all our children and young people have the chance for a healthy, happy childhood is not just one of the most important steps in securing ‘A Healthier Mid and West Wales’ but also one of the most ethical ones. We have a duty to provide our children and young people with opportunities to achieve a good and healthy life.

By investing in the wellbeing of our children and young people today, we can secure a healthier future for all.

One of our initiatives within this area focusses on working with our partners on the below programmes to ensure each school:

  • is a happy school
  • is a caring community, which is concerned with the health of all its members, pupils, teachers, non-teaching staff and all those who interact with it
  • encourages pupils to recognise that what they do counts – that we all affect one another’s lives
  • recognises that health education is not just taught in the classroom, but is supported and reinforced in the daily life of the school and local community
  • provides the information pupils require about various health aspects and encourages them to take responsibility for their own actions

We work with a range of partners to address system approaches to health and wellbeing at local, regional and national levels, guided by national policies for Wales.
