We’re inviting you to share your views on our draft updated Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA).
This helps us understand what services are working well, what may be missing, and how pharmacies can better support local communities in the future.
Community pharmacies play a vital role in providing advice, treatment and support. Your feedback will help shape how these services are delivered.

Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment
The Hywel Dda UHB PNA has been prepared following consultation with statutory bodies and the public. The document details where pharmacies are located and how far patients have to travel, what services pharmacies offer and if current services meet the needs of the communities they serve. This document will support the health board in making decisions to develop and improve pharmacy services in the future.

Supplementary Statement:
Issued 18 March 2025 - Supplementary statement to Hywel Dda University Health Board Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment
This supplementary statement is issued under Regulation 6 of the NHS (Pharmaceutical Services) (Wales) Regulations 2020.
The Hywel Dda University Health Board Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) was first published on 1 October 2021.
This letter serves as notification of a supplementary statement being issued (dated as per letter).
Following the decision by the Partnership the following GP Practice has been removed from the Health Board’s dispensing doctor list from 1 April 2025:
- Saundersfoot Medical Centre, Westfield Road, Saundersfoot SA69 9JW
The dispensing doctor had outline consent to dispense to the following areas:
- Saundersfoot and surrounding areas
This supplementary statement was approved by HDUHB Primary Care Contact Review Group on 18 March 2025.

Issued 12 February 2024 - Supplementary statement to Hywel Dda University Health Board Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment
This supplementary statement is issued under Regulation 6 of the NHS (Pharmaceutical Services) (Wales) Regulations 2020.
The Hywel Dda University Health Board Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) was first published on 1 October 2021.
This letter serves as notification of a supplementary statement being issued (dated as per letter).
The following Pharmacy has closed:
- Superdrug Stores PLC, tla Superdrug Pharmacy, (Inside Savers), 6 Vaughan Street, Llanelli SA 15 3TY
The Pharmacy provided the following Clinical and Additional Pharmaceutical services;
- CCPS
- Common Ailments Service (CAS)
- Emergency Contraception Bridging Contraception
- Flu Vaccinations
- Emergency Medicines Supply
- UTI
- Smoking Cessation Level 2 & 3
- Supervised Administration of Medication
- Just in Case
- Return of Patient Sharps
- Discharge Medicines Review
These services were provided from 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Saturday.
The Pharmacy closed on 2nd December 2023.

This Supplementary statement is issued under Regulation 6 of the NHS (Pharmaceutical Services) (Wales) Regulations 2020.
The Hywel Dda University Health Board Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) was first published on 1 October 2021.
This letter serves as notification of a supplementary statement being issued (dated as per letter). Following the retirement of Dr Sujan Dhaduvai on 31 March 2023, the GP Practice named below has been removed from the Health Board's dispensing doctor list:
- Solva Surgery, Cysgod Yr Eglwys, High Street, Solva, Haverfordwest, SA62 6TW
The dispensing doctor had outline consent to dispense the following areas:
- Solva and surrounding areas
