How does a new hospital cost £1.3 billion?

This figure is for everything we hope to build, not only the new urgent and planned care hospital.

This would fundamentally improve the way in which health and care services are provided, as well as the environments they are provided from.

The sums of money are early estimates, but if approved, the programme will include:

  • Construction of a new Urgent and Planned Care Hospital on a site to be identified between Narberth and St Clears (could reflect investment of approximately £737m)
  • Repurposing or rebuild of Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, and Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen (could reflect investment of approximately £210-£284m)
  • Refurbishment of Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth (could reflect investment of approximately £126m)
  • Refurbishment of Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli (could reflect investment of approximately £109m)
  • Development of our community buildings (could reflect investment of approximately £185m)
