Our Annual Plan for 2026/27 focuses on four main priorities – our strategic objectives. These match national health plans and are called: thriving teams, healthier communities, great care, and positive futures.
We believe everything starts with thriving teams. When our staff feel supported and valued, they can give the best care to people. This is especially important in health care, which is all about people helping people.
These teams help to support healthier communities. They do this by focusing on tackling the barriers to health inequalities, strengthening and developing primary care and community services around the needs, experiences, and wellbeing of local communities. We will also work to develop resilient communities that are connected.
When people need it, they should receive great care that is safe, high quality and provided in a timely way, helping them achieve better health.
Finally, we want to build positive futures, where people are born healthy, live well, age well, and are supported with dignity at the end of life. We also want the NHS to play its part in building a strong and sustainable society.
Our Annual Plan for 2026/27 is clear, realistic, and open, and shows the progress we have made. It shares the challenges we still face, and our promise to improve people’s health and make it easier to access care across mid and west Wales.
We understand that there are risks to delivering our plan for 2026/27, especially around having enough staff and managing our finances. And while we have planned carefully, we also know that some things are outside our control. We have set out these risks in the plan, along with what we will do to reduce them.
We have also updated how our committees work to make things clearer and better organised. Each committee is responsible for checking progress against the goals in the Annual Plan that relate to their area of work.
