Urology

Current status as of 13 April 2021

Urgent suspected cancer and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) face to face outpatient appointments have continued throughout and are now being undertaken at Glangwili, Withybush and Prince Philip hospitals. We have recommenced a limited number of clinics for the longest waiting new urgent patients and those clinically prioritised.

We have continued with a number of outpatient clinics, including active monitoring virtually and all cancelled clinics were reviewed by the consultants and relevant patients contacted via telephone or letter.

We continue to perform the following treatments:

  • Urgent suspected cancer
  • Very urgent cases
  • Intermittent self-catheterisation/ISD clinics
  • Trial without catheter (TWOC) clinics
  • Bladder treatments (BCG and Mitomycin)
  • Flow clinics
  • Urodynamics

Future plans

We are developing our plans for the restarting of routine appointments for new patients. Clinically urgent cases, routine inpatient and routine day cases will start as soon as the  All Wales Guidance changes.

The introduction of a dedicated PACU area on all sites of the health board to reduce the demand on HDU wards
