what3words

what3words is a free app and website that helps people find and share precise locations.

The world has been divided into squares measuring 3 metres by 3 metres. Each square has been given a unique combination of three words. For example  ///bumpy.trips.puns

These three words identify one exact location anywhere in the world.

Emergency services can also use what3words to help locate people quickly when they are unsure of their exact location.

How to use what3words

You can either

  1. Open the what3words app or website.
  2. Tap the search bar.
  3. Enter the three words if you know them (it's important that you enter them exactly as provided) or you can use the search option. 
  4. The location will appear on the map.
  5. Select Navigate or Directions to receive directions using your preferred maps app.

We have included some what3words addresses for our hospital sites below. Click on the hospital name to open the list of addresses. You can then enter them into the search bar in what3words to get directions to this exact location. Make sure you enter the words exactly as they are listed below.
