Blood-borne virus

This service is available if you have been diagnosed with a blood-borne virus, this includes partners, family and carers of those infected. We take referrals from medical practitioners, nurses, substance misuse teams or you can self-refer.

We can help you by proving:

testing for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV
clinical care for anyone diagnosed with a blood-borne virus
emotional, psychological and social support for those infected
treatment and monitoring of patients diagnosed with hepatitis B and C
liaison with regional centre for you if diagnosed with HIV
referral on to other services
liaison with substance misuse services, social services
education for patients, carers and significant others
education for health care staff and outside agencies

Liver Health Check Events

Could you have had a blood transfusion prior to 1991?
Ever injected/snorted drugs or been with somebody that has?
Have an un-regulated tattoo, piercings or travelled extensively around the world?
Have you injected steroids?

Hepatitis B & C are blood borne viruses that spread from person to person by contact with infected blood and/or bodily fluids.

Many people show no symptoms and therefore are unaware of their infection. If left untreated these viruses can lead to chronic liver disease.

Hepatitis B&C testing with same day results
Liver scan (Fibroscan)
Blood pressure measuring

Confidential drug and alcohol advice
Diabetes testing and advice
Brief interventions
Housing support and advice
Health promotion and education
