All of our hospitals have an Emergency and Urgent Care Unit. Both are open 24 hours a day. All three hospital sites have Paediatric Ambulatory Care Units especially for children. Inpatient overnight wards are available at Bronglais and Glangwili Hospitals.
What is PACU and when should I visit?
Paediatric Ambulatory Care offers non-inpatient hospital services and the provision of care to sick children on an out-patient basis. Many children can be treated in this way and do not need an overnight stay.
Withybush Hospital PACU offers 8 hour a day (10am-6pm), seven day a week, Paediatric Ambulatory Care Unit (PACU).
*Please note: We cannot provide paediatric inpatient or overnight care at Withybush Hospital. If your child requires this will be transferred to the 24 hour paediatric inpatient service at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen.
Glangwili Hospital PACU offers a 24 hour, seven day a week service, situated next to Cilgerran Ward.
Bronglais Hospital PACU offers a 24 hour, seven day a week service, situated next to Angharad Ward.
Glangwili Hospital – Cilgerran Ward offers 24 hour paediatric inpatient service. You as a parent/carer can remain with your child both day and night.
If your child is very sick there is be a dedicated paediatric high dependency unit (HDU) at Glangwili Hospital. This is where we will look after children with conditions such as:
• major problems with breathing
• serious infections
• major injuries or illness requiring close monitoring and specialist treatment
Bronglais Hospital – Angharad Ward offers 24 hour paediatric inpatient service. You as a parent/carer can remain with your child both day and night.
All wards offer open visiting to parents.
Withybush visting times: 2.00pm - 6.00pm
Glangwili visiting times: 3.00pm - 8.00pm

Withybush Hospital PACU
The New Paediatric Ambulatory Care Unit is based on the ground floor at Withybush Hospital. Follow directions to the green zone, it is located opposite the Adult Clinical Decision Unit (ACDU) and next to the exit for the Child Health Department.
Cilgerran Ward is based on the Ground floor at Glangwili Hospital. Follow directions through the main entrance, take a left at the T-Junction, followed by an immediate right and down a flight of stairs.
Angharad Ward is situated on the top floor of Bronglais Hospital. Follow directions through the Green zone.
