Integrated family support services

The Integrated family support service (IFSS) helps families when a parent has problems with drugs or alcohol. The service is delivered locally by teams managed by each county council.

The IFSS teams include:

  • social workers,
  • mental health and substance misuse nurses,
  • health visitors,
  • health intervention or social care specialists.
  • team leader or consultant social worker.

Who does the IFSS support?

The IFSS helps families where drug or alcohol problems make it hard to look after children. The IFSS team works with parents to make changes and keep their children safe. Families must be referred to the IFSS by a healthcare professional.
