COVID-19 Vaccination Programme

COVID-19 vaccination is an important part of protecting yourself if you're at increased risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19.

The COVID-19 vaccines are offered because viruses change and protection fades over time. It's important to top up your protection if you're eligible.

Getting the COVID-19 vaccine can:

  • help reduce your risk of getting severe symptoms
  • help you recover more quickly if you catch COVID-19
  • help reduce your risk of having to go to hospital or dying from COVID-19
  • protect against different types of COVID-19 virus

Adults in the following groups will be eligible for a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • Those aged 75 years and over (or who will be turning 75 during the time the vaccine is being offered).
  • Residents in a care home for older adults.
  • People with a weakened immune system.

You will be offered the most suitable vaccine for your age and condition.

If you are eligible you will receive a vaccination appointment letter either from us or your GP.

If you have any questions about any vaccines or want to book an appointment, please do not hesitate to contact the health board on 0300 303 8322 option 1 or by emailing ask.hdd@wales.nhs.uk and we’ll be happy to help.
