Communications and Engagement Director

It is a privilege to lead the communications, engagement, and Welsh language teams at the health board. I’m fortunate to work with an enthusiastic team who are committed to our patients and staff, and the success of Hywel Dda.

I’ve called Ceredigion my home for most of my adult life. I first moved to Aberystwyth in the early 1990s to study Environmental Science at the university and loved what mid Wales had to offer. A little after graduating, I returned to north Wales for a few years to work in sustainability and community strategy roles for local authorities. During that time, I completed my master’s in change management, but soon found the call of mid and west Wales was too great!

I returned to Aberystwyth in 2004 and developed my communication and engagement career with a range of public and private sector organisations. This included holding the role of Director of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs at Aberystwyth University.

Before joining Hywel Dda as Communications Director in January 2022, I spent six and a half years living and working in Switzerland. There, I worked as a Global Head of Communications and Employee Engagement for an international agriculture company at its headquarters in Basel.

I live a few miles to the south of Aberystwyth with my husband and daughter. On a weekend, I can often be found exploring the joys of Aberystwyth and the surrounding area. I have a passion for travel and when I’m not able to explore far-away lands I enjoy escaping between the pages of a good book. In my spare time I am a trustee and board member for the Books Council of Wales.
