Director of Strategy and Planning
Over the last 18 years I have worked in NHS Wales, having originally joined as part of the Graduate Leadership Development Scheme after studying Physics at Cardiff University. I held operational management positions in Swansea NHS Trust and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board before taking on a performance improvement role with the NHS Wales Delivery and Support Unit. In 2013, I joined Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, taking up a planning position in 2015, becoming Operational Planning Director three years later.
Throughout my career, I have gained a wealth of experience of working with clinical teams and collaborating across organisations to deliver transformational change for the benefit of patient care. A recent example of this was the establishment of CAV 24/7, a new and innovative approach to how patients access urgent care within the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. I also hold a particular interest in the use of data and analytics to support service improvement and redesign.
I live in Llangennech and a lifelong resident of the Hywel Dda area having been born and brought up in Burry Port. I’m delighted to be joining the Hywel Dda family as we look forward to better times after this very difficult period for the NHS and our communities. It is a genuine privilege to have the opportunity to shape health and care services in my local health board and to realise the ambitions set out in ‘A Healthier Mid and West Wales’.
