Welcome to issue 16 of Hywel Dda University Health Board’s Vaccine Bulletin.
This weekly update will provide the latest information regarding the progress of the COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Programme across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
As we celebrate the delivery of our 300,000th vaccine, we want to thank everyone involved in this remarkable achievement.
To all GP practices across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire who have been so important in allowing large groups of people to have their vaccine locally; to volunteers, staff, military and partner organisations involved in the running of our mass vaccination centres – Thank you!
We are now prioritising household contacts of adults who are immunosuppressed for vaccination.
If you are aged 16 or over and a household contact of a severely immunosuppressed adult (gov.uk, opens in new tab), please complete the self referral form on the NHS website (opens in new tab).
Adults who are immunosuppressed have a weaker immune system. They are more likely to have poorer outcomes if they get infected with COVID-19. Vaccinating household contacts will help limit the spread of the virus.
JCVI do not currently advise vaccinating children who are household contacts. They also do not currently advise vaccinating household contacts of immunosuppressed children.
If one or more of the following applies to you and you have not received your first vaccine appointment, please click here to contact the health board (opens in new tab):
People can also continue to contact us by email COVIDenquiries.hdd@wales.nhs.uk or by calling 0300 303 8322 to arrange a first vaccine dose.
All letters have now been posted for people aged 40 to 49 and you can expect to receive your vaccine invitation by this weekend.
Subject to supply, it is our aim to offer everyone in group 10 their first dose of the vaccine by the end of July.
With the theme ‘Vaccines bring us closer’, World Immunisation Week 2021 (April 24th-30th) shows how vaccination connects us to the people, goals and moments that matter to us most, helping improve the health of everyone, everywhere throughout life.
After a year like no other, Public Health Wales has spoken to Lynne Edwards, Immunisation and Vaccination Lead for Hywel Dda UHB and Cath Watts, Immunisation and Vaccination Lead for Swansea Bay UHB, about why immunisations are the key to creating a world where we can be together again.

Please don’t contact your GP, pharmacy or health board to ask when you will receive the vaccine
This week, health services have been inundated with calls, emails and social media messages from the public enquiring about the vaccine. We understand people are anxious and want to know when they can have the vaccine. Please do not contact your GP, pharmacy or health board; you will be contacted when it is your turn. People will be invited to receive the vaccine in order of priority, so please be patient.
