Individuals can access the service through a referral form from a professional or via a self-referral. These can be emailed or posted to the service or can be completed over the phone with a member of the IAS team if this is necessary.
Referrals come from a wide range of professionals including GP’s, mental health services, primary care services, charities or support services.
Prior to referral, some people first access our drop-in sessions within the local community to find out more about what we can offer and about the service. They will then be offered a copy of the referral form if appropriate.
Drop-in sessions were postponed during Covid-19 and so a virtual information hub service was set up, where individuals with autism, parent/carers or professionals could book an appointment to discuss a potential referral and request more information and support.
