Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) is sometimes also referred to as ‘Pulmonary Fibrosis’. The term ILD covers a wide range of conditions which affect the lungs due to scarring and inflammation.
Some of these conditions include:
idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF),
hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP),
sarcoidosis, asbestosis
lung conditions associated with rheumatological conditions.
The main symptoms associated with ILD are progressive breathlessness and persistent dry cough.
