Going to Accident and Emergency - Withybush Hospital

The hospitals are busy because of Coronavirus, the hospital might look different to what it normally does.

You will not be able to go into some areas of the hospital, this is to make sure that the virus does not spread so easily.

If you need to come to Accident & Emergency (A&E) because you are hurt or are unwell, park in the visitors car park and go towards the main reception.

Do not go into main reception, look to the  right and see the sign for A&E – go towards that.

Go to the yellow tent, this is A&E reception. You will be asked some questions – your name and address and why you have come to A&E.

You will then be taken into the green tent.

A nurse or doctor will ask you more questions and may examine you.  The nurse or doctor will ask you questions to find out if you have coronavirus: Have you had a cough? Have you been short of breath? Have you had a fever?

If you have some of these symptoms:

You will be asked to go to the Red Emergency Department, another nurse or doctor will see you once you are there and will give you the treatment that you need.

If you have have a high temperature, a cough or shortness of breath you will be given a mask to wear.

If you do not have these symptoms you will go to the Green Emergency Department Reception. Follow the arrows.

Book in at the Green Emergency Department reception and you will be told where you need to go next.

If you have an injury go to Minor Injuries, a nurse or doctor will see you here and you will get the treatment that you need.

Or you will be asked to go the Green Emergency Department, follow the green line on the floor.

When you get to this door, go in, someone will be there to meet you and will get you the treatment that you need.

Don’t be scared that the nurses and doctors are wearing a mask, apron and gloves, it is to protect you from the coronavirus. This is the same nurse without the mask, apron and gloves.
