Maternity visiting times

new born baby lays on mothers chest

Thank you for your support and patience while we have adjusted access and visiting to our maternity services. We are pleased to announce that we are now in a position to make changes to access for birth partners and visitors to our maternity services.

  • One birthing partner can stay with you at all times when you are staying on the ward. We are unable to offer comfort facilities such as a bed due to limited space however we are able to provide a chair by the bed to rest and you can bring your own blanket/pillow if you wish;
  • We have a responsibility for the health and safety of everyone present and must comply with local policies such as infection control, fire safety and the safety of mothers and babies. In view of this partners/companions must agree to the conditions set out below in order to stay overnight;
  • If you decide you would like to stay, we will ask that the partner staying sign the register to enable us to ensure everyone's safety should an emergency occur;
  • additional visiting is available from 2.00pm - 4.00pm and 6.00pm - 8.00pm;
  • maximum number of visitors per patient is two;
  • any visiting children will form part of the maximum of two visitors per bed. Any difficulties in relation to this must be discussed and arranged with the ward sister and discretion applied on an individual basis (e.g. if there is a young sibling or two young siblings, they can be accompanied by the second adult visitor);
  • visiting children must be accompanied by a responsible visiting adult at all times.
