The neurophysiology department diagnoses and monitors conditions by measuring the electrical activity of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. They will carry out a range of tests to chart different brain and neurological activities to record electrical activities. These tests include electroencephalogram (EEG), nerve conduction studies, electromyogram (EMG) and visual evoked responses (VER).
The service is supported by consultant neurophysiologists, healthcare scientists and clinical neurophysiologists and patients can be seen either in outpatient clinics or as inpatients for those requiring urgent tests.
If you have been referred as an outpatient, you will receive an appointment letter detailing the date and time of your appointment. This will include a map of where to find us at Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen.
