What will the survey work involve?

Initial investigations showed that the scale of the issue affecting Withybush Hospital requires a sustained programme of survey work to determine the condition of the RAAC planks used in each building and to check against any deterioration.

The health board has appointed WG-approved experts Curtins to undertake the work, which will be done on a ward-by-ward and plank-by-plank basis.

It is expected that these surveys will cause considerable disruption and take many months to complete. The process will require wards and departments to be temporarily emptied and some staff and patients have been moved to alternative accommodation as a systematic inspection takes place.
