Malignancy Unknown Origin Clinic

You have been referred to the Malignancy Unknown Origin (MUO) clinic because you have had a scan that is suggestive of cancer, but the investigations so far have not confirmed this yet.

The clinic is available to patients from Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.

What to expect at your appointment

When you attend your appointment, a doctor and an oncology specialist nurse will assess your symptoms and explain the results of your investigations.

If you need further tests, we will discuss this with you in the clinic. A plan of care will be put in place with you.

You will be given a specialist nurse as your main point of contact through your investigations. Their contact details will be given to you at the appointment.

 

What shall I bring to the clinic appointment?

You can bring one relative or friend with you to your clinic appointment.

Please wear comfortable clothing that is easy to remove, as you may need to be examined.

Please bring a list of current medications you are taking. You may find it helpful to bring a list of questions if you have any.

On arriving at Withybush Hospital, please park in one of the patient car parks. If you are arriving by public transport, the drop off point is in front of the hospital.

The Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust provide a Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service for patients across Wales who are unable, for medical reasons, to make their own way to and from their hospital appointments.
