We see adults who have an acquired communication and/or swallowing difficulty. This may be due to a sudden illness (e.g. stroke/traumatic brain injury), an ongoing illness (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, MND, or dementia), voice problems, head and neck cancer or dysfluency. With swallowing difficulties, we carry out specialist assessments and offer advice regarding positioning, feeding techniques and modification of diet and fluids.
Everyone is supported to reach their communication potential and achieve their goals. We work closely with families, health and social care staff to achieve the best possible outcome.
