New Tywyn Drop-In for Clinical Services Plan Consultation

18 July 2025

Hywel Dda University Health Board has added an additional consultation event in Tywyn, Gwynedd, in response to public feedback, ensuring more people who use our local healthcare services have the opportunity to share their views on our Health Boards Clinical Services Plan.

The in-person drop-in event will take place on Monday 4 August, 3.00-6.00pm, at Neuadd Pendre Tywyn, Brook Street, Tywyn, Gwynedd, LL36 9DP. The event is aimed at providing people with information about the consultation and options for change, and to provide an opportunity to speak to Health Board staff and ask any questions they may have.

This event is part of the ongoing consultation for the Clinical Services Plan programme. Hywel Dda UHB is seeking views on nine healthcare services to improve access and standards and deal with current challenges.

The services included in the consultation are critical care, dermatology, emergency general surgery, endoscopy, ophthalmology, elective orthopaedics, radiology, stroke and urology.
Proposals could change the way these services are provided in hospitals and some community facilities across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire in the future. Some of our services also serve communities on Hywel Dda’s borders in south Gwynedd, parts of Powys and Swansea/Neath Port Talbot.

Medical Director Mr Mark Henwood said: “We’ve added the Tywyn event in direct response to community feedback, as part of our commitment to listening and engaging with our public. This event is a chance for residents in south Gwynedd and surrounding areas to learn more about the consultation, explore the options being considered, and speak directly with senior members of our team. No decisions have been made, and there are no preferred options, so we encourage people to come along, ask questions, and share their views.”

Whether you are a patient, member of the community, staff member or someone interested in health and well-being, you can drop-in to the event at any time.
Feedback can also be shared by completing a questionnaire and there are a range of ways to do so:

  • Online: The questionnaire can be completed online here (opens in new tab).
  • Request delivery of a questionnaire: A paper copy of the questionnaire can be posted. Request a copy by emailing: hyweldda.engagement@wales.nhs.uk
  • Completed questionnaires may then be returned free of charge to: Opinion Research Services, FREEPOST SS1018, PO Box 530, Swansea, SA1 1ZL
  • Telephone: To share views or request further information telephone 0300 303 8322 (option 5), at local call rates.

The Board will consider all they have heard leading up to, and during, this consultation. This includes health and equality impact assessments, which will consider how people could be affected and what needs to be done to reduce negative impacts. They will also consider any new ideas and decisions will not be based solely on option selections in the questionnaire.

Information about the consultation, including event details, the questionnaire and documents in accessible formats and languages, is available on the Heath Board’s dedicated consultation webpages here (opens in new tab).

The consultation is open until 31 August 2025, and we encourage everyone to take this opportunity to share their views.
