Phlebotomy services (blood tests) for Hywel Dda patients living in the Llanelli area will be moving to a new home at Canolfan Pentre Awel, Llanelli, in early summer 2026.
The service is currently provided from the Mass Vaccination Centre in Dafen, Llanelli, where it temporarily relocated in 2024.
This marks the next planned step in improving access and experience for patients in Llanelli and the surrounding area.
Canolfan Pentre Awel which opened to the public in October 2025 offers improved accessibility, transport links, and more convenient parking for patients. The L1 and L2 local bus route connects Canolfan Pentre Awel to key locations with the bus stop just outside the main door. The route, which is around every 90 minutes, connects Llanelli town centre, Parc Pemberton, Parc Trostre, Penyfan, Morfa, Canolfan Pentre Awel, Swiss Valley, Prince Philip Hospital and Felinfoel. The L11 route is also available for those living in Kidwelly and the surrounding areas at the start and end of each day.
The Health Board will share further details regarding the confirmed opening date and any changes to arrangements for appointments as soon as they are available.
In the meantime, patients should continue to book their blood test appointments at Dafen, Llanelli, or Prince Philip Hospital in the usual way, either:
