13 February 2025

Hywel Dda University Health Board would like to congratulate local Dental Practices- Aman Dental Practice and Cardigan Dental Practice, for achieving the Gold Award from the Greener Primary Care Wales Framework and Award Scheme. This prestigious recognition highlights their outstanding commitment to sustainability while delivering high-quality patient care.

Aman Dental Practice (opens in new tab), located in Ammanford and Cardigan Dental Practice (opens in new tab), based in the Cardigan Integrated Care Centre have been serving the local Community with dental care for years, while demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability.

Both family run Practices offer a wide range of treatments from routine dental check-ups and professional cleaning to cosmetic dentistry procedures for improved dental health and appearance.

The Greener Primary Care Wales Framework and Award Scheme (opens in new tab) supports primary care teams in taking voluntary steps to improve their environmental sustainability. To achieve a ‘Gold Award’ which is their highest recognition, practices must complete 24 specific actions from the framework, which includes over 50 measures aligned with the NHS Wales Decarbonisation Strategic Delivery Plan (opens in new tab). These actions span areas such as waste management, procurement, and sustainable work practices, empowering teams to create a positive impact for the environment without requiring significant resources.

Jill Paterson, Director of Primary Care, Community and Long-Term Care, said: “I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Aman Dental Practice and Cardigan Dental Practice for achieving the Gold Award. Their dedication to sustainability and patient care is inspiring. They really demonstrate how Primary Care can lead the way in creating a greener and healthier future for Wales.”

The Greener Primary Care Wales Framework and Award Scheme underscores NHS Wales’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and highlights the crucial role primary care can play in creating a healthier, more sustainable future.
