The annual Hywel Dda Loved and Lost Baby Remembrance Service will take place on Saturday 25 April 2026 in Carmarthen.

The service, arranged by health board staff and led by the Spiritual Care Department (Chaplaincy), has long been a source of comfort for parents and families and provides an opportunity for people to reflect and to come together to pay respects.

The service will take place at Bethel Chapel, Hill House, Picton Terrace, Carmarthen SA31 3BT at midday on Saturday 25 April. Bethel Chapel can be found behind the Welsh Government offices and the Army Reserve Centre on Picton Terrace with ample parking available.

Euryl Howells, Senior Chaplain at Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We know that the journey of grief can be slow and painful, and that the experience of loss can be wide - from early miscarriage to the death of a baby or a child.

“Our remembrance service is for anyone who has experienced loss, no matter when it happened or where you were living at the time.

“We offer a space for quiet reflection, as well as the chance to come together with others who have experienced similar loss. Being surrounded by support and love can provide comfort at a difficult time.”

This years’ service will feature quotes from Winnie the Pooh, poems and reflective music including a staff choir. Parents are invited to bring along a photograph or an item with their child’s name or an artefact such as a blanket or toy to place on the memory table during the service.

We are again grateful of the support and kindness of Pastor Tim and members of Bethel Church who will be providing refreshments.

If you are unable to attend the service and wish to commemorate your loved one, please send a message to Loved.Forever.HDD@wales.nhs.uk by Wednesday 22 April 2026
