CSO Excellence in Science Award win for Professor Hopkins

Professor Chris Hopkins, Head of Innovation and TriTech Institute at Hywel Dda University Health Board, has won the Excellence in Healthcare Science Research and Innovation Award at the NHS Chief Scientific Officer’s Excellence in Healthcare Science Awards.

The Chief Scientific Officer’s Excellence in Healthcare Science Awards recognise and celebrate the contributions and achievements of the healthcare science workforce and the impact they have on patient outcomes by championing inspiring case studies of quality improvement, innovative partnership, and pioneering service delivery.

Chief Scientific Officer, Professor Dame Sue Hill DBE, said: “The research and innovation award celebrates healthcare scientists who have undertaken ground-breaking scientific work and established strong collaborations for innovation and enterprise to make a real difference in patient care. Congratulations to Professor Hopkins and the TriTech team who are a fantastic example of this. Bringing together researchers, innovators, clinicians and engineers to design, develop and implement new innovative technologies in Wales and across the UK.”

Commenting on his award, Professor Chris Hopkins, said: “It is an honour to be announced as the winner of the Chief Scientific Officer’s Healthcare Science Research and Innovation Award. At TriTech we pride ourselves on undertaking ground-breaking research and innovation that develops healthcare solutions to improve patient outcomes.

The TriTech Institute was established at Hywel Dda UHB in 2021, comprising of industry-leading researchers, engineers, scientists, and clinicians. Together, they support the development of healthcare solutions on a local, national, and global level offering designers and manufacturers a single point of access to the NHS through a collaborative and agile approach.
