Dedicated NHS dental service to open in Cardigan Integrated Health Centre

Ceredigion Intergrated Care building

24 September 2021

A new service to provide routine NHS dental care in Cardigan will open on Monday 4 October at the town’s integrated health centre.

Cardigan NHS Dental Practice have been providing urgent and essential care NHS dental care from a single surgery within the centre since December 2020.

From next month, the practice will open another two surgeries within the centre, bringing the total to three.

Patients will be allocated to the practice from a South Ceredigion waiting list in order of clinical need and this will be done in batches.

The waiting list is managed by the health board’s Dental Services Team and patients who have already added their details to the list do not need to take any further action as they will be allocated to the practice.

Patients are asked not to contact the practice directly and any waiting list queries should be directed to the Dental Services Team on 01267 229693 or via HDHB.Dental.hdd@wales.nhs.uk

Patients wishing to be added to the waiting list can do so using the above contact details and providing their name, date of birth, address, contact telephone number and email address.

Jill Paterson, Director of Primary Care, Community and Long Term Care for Hywel Dda University Health Board (opens in new tab) said: “This is an exciting development within the South Ceredigion area and the practice and health board look forward to the commencement of this service.

“It will take time for the practice to establish a patient base so your patience and cooperation is appreciated at this time.

“We would like to thank prospective patients for their support in adhering to the above process which will ensure that all patients can be assessed and supported as soon as possible.”

The throughput of patients in the practice will be reduced at this time in line with national guidelines regarding social distancing and infection prevention and control procedures. This will also include the appropriate use of personal protective equipment.

NHS dental charges and exemptions will apply at the practice.
