Health board teams to welcome visitors to the National Eisteddfod in Llantwd

Whether you're attending the National Eisteddfod to enjoy the competitions, catch up with family and friends, or celebrate our Welsh language and culture, you'll receive a warm welcome at the Hywel Dda University Health Board stand.

The health board will be at stand 103 on the Maes throughout the festival in Llantwd, North Pembrokeshire, from 1 to 8 August 2026.

Teams from across Hywel Dda will be on hand throughout the week to showcase local health services, wellbeing support, volunteering opportunities and careers in the NHS. Visitors can meet staff from a range of services, ask questions, pick up information and resources, and take part in activities for all ages.

A varied programme of events throughout the week offers an insight into the healthcare services provided across Hywel Dda.

The programme includes free blood pressure checks throughout the week, alongside opportunities to explore careers in health and care, take part in Story Time and sensory activities, experience virtual reality technology and access advice and information on a range of health topics. Scheduled events include:

  • Saturday 1 August, 10.30am: Clocs Fit session with Tudur Phillips.
  • Monday 3 August, 11.30am: National Centre for Learning Welsh presentation on a new scheme for midwives.
  • Monday 3 August, 1.30pm: Research presentation on Welsh language services in optometry.
  • Tuesday 4 August, 10.30am: Art session with Orielodl.
  • Tuesday 4 August, 11.00am: Discussion on careers in social care with WeCare Wales ambassadors.
  • Wednesday 5 August, 10.30am and 3.00pm: Dance for Wellbeing ; Seated Movement to Music session with Arts Care / Gofal Celf.
  • Wednesday 5 August, 11.00am: Discussion on recognising and using Welsh language skills in social care.
  • Wednesday 5 August, 12.30pm: Launch of a new Swansea University Medical School initiative by Dr Llinos Roberts.
  • Thursday 6 August, 1.30pm: Panel discussion on how digital technology is changing the NHS.
  • Thursday 6 August, 2.00pm: Launch of the Social Care Wales Strategic Plan.
  • Thursday 6 August, 2.30pm: Literary visit from Archdruid Mererid Hopwood.
  • Friday 7 August, 11.30am: Inspiring Innovation: Women Leading the Way in Wales panel discussion hosted by Life Sciences Hub Wales.
  • Friday 7 August, 1.30pm: Llais and More Than Just Words Round Table discussion - Share the People’s Principles and how they can be used to shape a fairer, more accessible health and social care system for everyone in Wales - the Cabinet Minister for Health and Care to join the discussion.

Partner organisations will also join health board colleagues throughout the week to share expertise and discuss public health, innovation, education, social care and the future of health and care services in Wales, supporting the ambitions of our Healthier Mid and West Wales strategy.
