Health services in Llanelli to move to Canolfan Pentre Awel

Several healthcare services for patients in the Llanelli area are relocating to Canolfan Pentre Awel over the coming weeks, bringing services closer to the community in a modern, purpose-built healthcare setting.

Canolfan Pentre Awel opened to the public in October 2025 and provides improved accessibility, transport links and parking for patients and visitors.

Phlebotomy (blood testing) services for Hywel Dda University Health Board patients in Llanelli have already moved to their new home at Canolfan Pentre Awel earlier this month.

Further services will relocate throughout June and July:

From 22 June 2026

  • COVID-19 and RSV clinics (currently delivered from Dafen)
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse Assessments (currently delivered from Prince Philip Hospital)

From 29 June 2026

  • The following services, currently delivered from Llwynhendy, will move to Canolfan Pentre Awel:

  • Catheter Management and Trial Without Catheter (TWOC)

"The facility provides a modern, welcoming environment for patients and improved working conditions for staff. By bringing teams together under one roof, we can strengthen collaboration across services and provide a more joined-up experience for people using our services.

"This move represents an important long-term investment in healthcare provision for the Llanelli community."

Patients, families and carers will now benefit from a modern, welcoming environment designed to support integrated care and enhance the overall experience of accessing services. This move represents an important milestone for Canolfan Pentre Awel and a significant step forward in delivering high-quality, community-focused healthcare for the region."
